Tactical Plan Alternatives

Alternatives From 2020 Conferences

The 2020 Update
Another one of those Dan’s New Leaf Posts, meant to inspire thought about IT Governance . . . .

Each year as we go to various conferences throughout the Midwest ranging in scope; from small banker conferences that Dan himself moderates, to hacker conferences like Defcon.  We make a list of the action items that we are discovering at those conferences, items that smaller community based banks and small credit unions may want to consider when they develop their tactical plan as part of their annual IT strategy update.

In 2020 we, of course, were hamstrung by the pandemic and the lack of conferences to attend.  Furthermore, it seemed that a lot of the tactical alternatives were repeats of security tactics arising because of the new normal.  Still, we were able to compile tactical alternatives  from two really good bank conference venues: the IBA’s (Indiana Banker’s Association) Cybersecurity Conference held October 1 & 2 as well as the OBL’s (Ohio Banker League) IT Forum that was held September 23.  I am especially proud this year because Adam Reynolds, our lead nontechnical auditor, compiled this year’s list with the help of Matt Jolley who, among other roles, is our researcher.
