GPT Store

Dan Replaced

Or so some of us think

Apparently OpenAI is finally ready to open its “GPT-store” next week. We will be able to post and purchase our own custom GPTs!

As the founder of the company that oversaw and maintained bleedingsnort.com (an open source clearinghouse for snort signatures, that eventually morphed into emerging threats.com) I feel like this improves my confidence in OpenAI just a little bit.  It reinforces the “open” in the company name.

So, I asked ChatGPT to provide a list of the GPTs that might be in that store. Nothing about information Security. Nothing about cybersecurity. Nothing about technology risk management.

🙁

Only one of the GPTs listed seems to be pertinent to our Clients. It’s a GPT that is meant to explain technical concepts to non-technical management. The following is how ChatGPT described it.

“This generative pre-trained transformer offers in-depth, technical explanations on a wide range of subjects, using analogies and relating concepts to everyday experiences.”

Well heck – isn’t that what I built my career on?  I mean, analogies and metaphors are why I call myself a CyberPoet.

So… in the spirit of proving that I’m not afraid of AI replacing me, here is the direct link to the Universal Primer GPT website! I have not tried it yet.  (This article was due before I could find some time to check into it).   But I do intend to check into it, and maybe even use it to assist me in my job. As I have positioned in several previous Dan’s New Leaf posts, we need to see AI as a tool that makes us better. It does not have to replace us.

If my goal was to provide metaphors to my Clients, maybe I would be threatened. But our mission is to empower our clients to manage technology risk, and we believe awareness is 9/11’s of the battle, so what a great way to help my Clients improve on that goal!
