Incident Response on Steroids!

Turning Letters into Lemonade . . .

Could Marketing Messages be Pre-Planned Into Response?
Another one of those Dan’s New Leaf Posts, meant to inspire thought about IT Governance . . . .

Something I just noticed: I now know what Yandex is. And I would not have known about this interesting browser had it not been for a vulnerability exploit. And then I started thinking about all the great feelings I have towards a competitor of ours, FireEye. I mean, they handled their recent breach brilliantly. And then, moving forward into my day, I saw on my upcoming “Compliance Path To-Do List” the following tactic: “Update Breach Response Letter Template.”

And I’m thinking:

a) run it by the attorney again?

b) run it by . . . . the marketing-message people?

I mean: what message should we be sure to get out there, if everybody is going to be reading about us anyway?
