Malware Responsible For MAPCO Security Breach

Hackers may have gained access to credit card information from MAPCO stores in several states.

Following a security breach which involved the obtaining of credit card information by third-party hackers, MAPCO has issued an official statement on the incident. According to the statement, hackers accessed payment processing systems from stores in multiple states through the use of malware.

MAPCO warns its customers that the hackers may have credit card information which would allow them to complete fraudulent credit card transactions. However, MAPCO is not certain at this time if the information was stolen.

MAPCO has since removed the malware responsible for the breach and strengthened the payment card systems.
